Singapore's planning explicitly treats vegetation as infrastructure. The result is a skyline you photograph through leaves — and a genuine return of wildlife: otters in the reservoirs, hornbills in the suburbs, pangolins in the central catchment.
The smooth-coated otter families that now hunt in Marina Bay are the most photographed urban wildlife in Asia, and they are a real ecological recovery, not a novelty. A frame of otters crossing a road under a supertree is the most on-brand image this city can give you.
