The hardest photography and the richest returns — sal forest gives you seconds, not minutes.
India rewards familiarity over travel. The same park in the same month across three years teaches more than three countries in one. Alarm calls do more work than any lens: chital, langur, peafowl — the forest announces a predator long before it appears.
North of the plains the problem inverts. Ladakh and Spiti offer visibility to the horizon and almost nothing in it. Snow leopard work is spotting-scope work, done from a ridge, for days.
